I'd have loved a 60Gb, but living in Australia with the ridiculously overinflated prices for any electronics it would have cost me close to $1000 Australian. Then since it wasn't a PAL release i would of had to get it converted and the power too.

I don't care how good a deal it was for the American audience that is still over the top for us here. Our pricing level is still a lot higher than US or UK as i understand it.

In short Pennywise & others not everyone h...

I believe that there are more potential applications for Natal than for the Basic motion sensor. Getting kids off the couch is always a good idea in my opinion and making them dodge around with motion sensing equipment (in whatever form). Natal takes away the chance of accidentally throwing the WiiMote across the room and through the Plasma as well.

The ability to recognise a voice command obviously puts it at another point in the chain. However i do question the speech/voice ...

I live in the country and can tell you that 1080p movie watching is not going to happen on demand in Australia. The download speeds here are not high enough to achieve the bit rates required for a quality picture. Add to that the download limits placed on everyone by all the ISPs here and you have very few movies you could download before your speed is cut to virtually nothing.

I'm glad that we finally have this option but until the new broadband network goes in (if ever) this ...

Like many people here you are saying that the game feels exactly the same. Then you go on to say but it is tighter and more reactive. Surely then by your own definition the game doesn't feel the same. It may still feel different, but not the same different.

It's fairly apparent that those that were requesting a more responsive system have got their way to some extent, despite GGs comments on not changing it. I can understand their reasons for this as others have stated.

because the game already existed and worked the way it was. By changing the setup after the product was released you can't then blame the product for the problem. That's a truly backwards way of looking at things.

I think the system sounds good if it can be implimented correctly with restrictions being able to be put in place to limit the cheating potential. Limiting the number of voices in your head can only be a good thing.

I think 1 Aus Dollar is worth about 0.65 US Dollars at the moment, but in our current economic climate this is going up & down a bit.

All our electronics are very expensive though

I keep seeing comments about HDTVs only being $800 so everyone can get one.

NO! Not everyone can get one. Although you (or your parents) may have the cash to just go out and buy a new TV whenever you want, not everyone does. Especially given the current economic climate. I believe you people must live very sheltered lives if you really think this. Many people are just scraping by in the good times, but now things are tough for a lot more. None of these people will be buying a ...

Waltercross your biased comment about the Wii sitting there doing nothing is only based on what you read here amongst hard core gamers.

The main selling bracket for the Wii is casual gamers. You will find very few of the people who enjoy the Wii on these forums as they prefer to just play occasionally and are not interested in arguing the validity of their console.

My extended family have several Wii consoles and they are all used regularly by kids & adults alik...

It's one thing to admit that they have some tough competition.

But it's something else completely to admit that they completely missed the boat with Nintendo's angle. There is no competition between Nintendo and Microsoft/Sony at this stage, they are catering to very different markets.

Perhaps when the PS3/XBox 360 come down to a comparable price there will be, but it will be all but over by then I fear. Most newcomers to the gaming arena will already have picked u...

I can't even begin to understand how you think those numbers can justify anything but what was said initially.

If you want to look at it the other way then 16% to 30% of all XBoxes have 100% failure rate.

This has nothing to do with a per capita situation or the money households have to spend or any of the other things you keep throwing up. It's purely based on the money generated in these markets.

Although I agree that these elements may be important and in Australia (WA in particular) we have a lot of money floating around at the moment due to the mining boom. I believe there is a lot of monies being paid out on electronics and such as the Aussie dollar is riding high, providing...

Infernus i must admit that this is something i've always wondered about with all the numbers that constantly get thrown around on this site.

The 360 had a lot of early issues with many people reporting buying new consoles to replace dead ones before the extended warranty came into effect. I would also imagine there would be some on the PS3 side that have had issues that Sony will not fix.

I'd expect the 360 figures to be inflated more due to these effects but there i...

of a console over a PC is a stable platform for a period of time for developers to explore and perfect. If these future consoles become more like PCs then fine as long as it removes the need to update every 3 weeks to be able to run the latest game.

To me this is why consoles are so successful. With technology only changing faster are you going to want to be constantly updating to play the next great hit? I know i can't afford to.

Speaking as a Resident of the great country of Australia, this place is nearly always behind the rest of the big first world countries in implementing anything of this nature.
As much as i love living in this country it does hurt sometimes to have to wait for everyone else to do something before our government will implement anything.
Telstra in particular is a monolithic dinosaur of a company that is very set in it's ways and has been since it's days of government ownership. Onl...

It is all very well to have portable data and be able watch it on a small 10inch screen, but then why have High Def. For a screen that size we are going to see very little difference between standard DVD and High Def.
With an Ipod this is not an issue as sound is not displayed. A better quality song can still be played from a smaller item and not lose anything in the translation.
High Def needs to be viewed on a large screen to fully appreciate the quality and these are inherentl...

I find it interesting that all these comparisons between games never seem to take into consideration that the PS3 hasn't been out there as long as the 360.
It's not that surprising that the 360 is better in some areas as developers have had far more time to get used to the style of programming required to achieve better results. In addition it is built to be similar to PC structure for which developers have been programming for even longer.
What i find surprising is that the PS3 ...
